Ways of Working

creative/expressive arts therapy delivered in a person-centred way

In Person

I work from my office in the city centre of Glasgow, each session is usually 50 minutes; however I can also offer an extended session of 90 mins.

Creative/Arts Counselling

I have a particular passion for creative/expressive arts therapy delivered in a person-centred way.

This aspect is entirely optional, but I have found that sometimes a “picture really does paint a thousand words’

Online

Should you prefer to work online, this can easily be arranged. I will email the link to you on the day of the arranged session.

Outdoor Therapy

I also offer outdoor sessions, it can be beneficial to be outdoors in green spaces. But also, sometimes it’s helpful to be able to move around during a session and this can be an effective way to do that.

Should this be something you would be interested in, we would discuss beforehand and is covered in my client agreement. I have completed a CPCAB endorsed workshop on Walk & Talk Counselling and Ecotherapy.

Group Work

I have facilitated outdoor creative and well-being groups alongside a local charity Grow 73 and hope to do more in the future.

Peer Support

I also facilitate monthly peer support groups in my role as Ambassador for the Creative Counsellors Community and also, I facilitate a similar peer support on behalf of APPCA members in Scotland and also I have hosted practice sessions for APCCA.

Creativity

Creative Counselling

I have a particular passion for creative/expressive arts therapy delivered in a person-centred way.

I have completed many training since my core training and have incorporated this a big part of my practice.

I find that using various tools such as sand trays, miniatures, doodling, movement, writing, therapeutic cards, and so on can help clients to access and express how they feel, whereas talking and articulating feelings can be a big ask. This aspect is entirely optional, but I have found that sometimes a “picture really does paint a thousand words’

Saying the word ART or Creativity does tend to scare some people away. To reassure you, I must stress that this isn’t compulsory, some clients make it clear this isn’t for them and would rather stick to talking therapy and that’s fine. Some clients will dip in and out of using creative ways to explore various topics. It’s all completely at your control. I offer a very bespoke service.

The Creative Counsellor's Community

I have completed the 8 module pathway for the Creative Counsellor Community and I am now the Ambassador for them in Scotland. I facilitate regular groups for other counsellors based in Scotland.

APCCA

I have also completed the APCCA (Association for Person Centred Use of Creative arts) Certificate course.

I have also been featured in the summer 2024 issue of their Journal.

I also facilitate various groups for Scottish based practitioners.

Creative Connections

I also competed to Practioner level, the PC-EAT (Person Centred Expressive Art Therapy) Training By Creative Connections Cumbria. This is the course developed by Dinah Brown through her work with Natalie Rogers and laterally Pete Saunders.
